Sorry it's been a while...

Sorry it's been a while since I have blogged! I have been entirely too busy, but I am enjoying it!
Last week was Fall Break, so I had a chance to go home and spend time with family. It was awesome :) I got a new tattoo on my ribs. It hurt terribly, but it was totally worth it. The tattoo is of 5 birds (geese to be exact). It represents my five family members who have encouraged me, and stuck by me through thick and thin during my college experience. The reason why I chose geese over any other bird is because I live on a farm with my family and we have tons of geese! :)

Anyways, I was on Fall Break, but came back to school early to do volunteer work all day on Saturday with my housemate, Becca Uber. Early on Saturday morning, we volunteered at the Alzheimer's Association Memory Walk. Then, later on during the day, we drove to the James River State Park and volunteered at a Haunted Hayride. We got to dress up in scary costumes and scare people, it was fun! :) So yes, I spent an entire Saturday of my Fall Break doing Community Service, and I enjoyed every minute of it!!

Since Saturday, I have been staying busy with studying and homework. I added a new class that's called Advanced Career Development. It is a course to help with resume building, finding a job, mock interviews, etc. I am actually very excited for the class :) Hopefully it will give me special tips in order to find a great job out of college!
Speaking of, I need a job! I graduate in May and I am looking for an entry-level job, specifically in Public Relations. If anyone has any ideas, send them my way :)

At this very minute I am looking at a ripped out page in a magazine that I taped to my wall; it goes along with the "live, laugh, love" theme. The page says (in bright colors and bold fonts) "Live the life you want". What a great quote!! :) Live the life you want for yourself. Don't make choices based on friends, family, a boyfriend or girlfriend. Make decisions for yourself, and stay true to yourself. Live the life you want. Do you want to be a teacher? Then be it. Don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.
I can totally vouch for this. When coming to college, my mother (sorry mom) wanted me to major in the medical field. I told her I didn't want to, however I still looked into it. I wanted to make her happy. Afterall, she was paying for my tuition. I looked into it, but it wasn't for me. I don't enjoy that stuff. I don't want to be a nurse, I don't want to be a doctor. At the time, I was taking a Communications General Education course and loved it. So, I decided to take more Communication courses, and here I am. A senior majoring in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations/Journalism and I LOVE it. I wouldn't trade it for the world. So although my mother wanted me to become a nurse, I did want I wanted to do. I lived the life I wanted, and I love it.

So, my lesson for you is to live the life YOU want and along the way, don't forget to live, laugh and love :)
